Pollen, yellow sand, PM2.5... 90% of people may overlook

When it comes to rough skin in spring, the real blind spot is in washing care

Are you only giving skin care products?

Did you know that in spring, there are a lot of fine particles such as pollen, yellow sand, and PM2.5 floating in the air, and they unknowingly stick to your skin, causing inflammation and dryness?

In fact, many women in their 20s, 30s, and 40s and older feel that their skin condition becomes unstable in the spring, and these "invisible external stimuli" may be the underlying cause of this.

However, only a few people pay attention to "face washing" or "cleansing" as a countermeasure against skin problems.

What is the importance of "washing care" that 90% of people overlook, and what are the improvement measures you can start today?

The shortcut to beautiful skin is cleansing care

So how many women actually feel they are experiencing skin problems caused by pollen, yellow sand, and PM2.5?

And what kind of measures do you take to address these skin concerns?

I think many people are focusing on protective care in spring and summer. While you are using masks and sunscreen to protect yourself, are you simply taking care of removing the important "cleansing care" such as washing your face and cleansing?

The skin problems that everyone experiences are "itchiness" and "dryness"

First, we asked, "Have you ever experienced skin problems due to pollen, yellow sand, or PM2.5?" Approximately 60% of people answered "Often (21.2%)" or "Sometimes (40.4%)."

As expected, many people are experiencing some kind of skin trouble, and it seems that their skin becomes unwell towards the beginning of spring.

Skin troubles include

"Itching (71.8%)"
"Dry (61.3%)"
"Stinging pain (26.9%)"

These and other irritation reactions caused by a weakened barrier function are the main causes, and it appears that the skin becomes hypersensitive to external stimuli.

Additionally, one in four people experienced a change in which their usual skin care routine no longer suited them, and it was found that even items that had no problems before were more likely to cause problems due to seasonal or environmental changes.

Approximately 80% of people experienced skin problems this spring...!

When people who feel that they "often" or "occasionally" experience skin problems due to pollen, yellow sand, and PM2.5 were asked whether they experienced similar skin problems in 2025, 79.6% answered "yes."

This means that many people actually experienced skin problems this year, rather than just experiencing them in the past.

Although there may be slight differences from year to year, it appears that the feeling that "my skin has become rough again this year" has become a regular occurrence in the spring.

Pollen and yellow sand are often thought of as temporary phenomena, but for those who suffer from skin problems, they seem to be seen as an "annual skin crisis."

Is "wearing a mask, glasses, and a hat when going out" a common way to prevent spring skin problems?

Of those who experience skin problems due to pollen, yellow sand, and PM2.5, approximately 70% responded that they are "very concerned (16.8%)" or "somewhat concerned (55.0%)" and are taking some kind of measures.

However, there were also responses of "not doing much (23.8%)" and "not doing anything at all (4.4%)," so it cannot be said that everyone is taking sufficient measures.

In particular, the high number of responses indicating "somewhat" suggests some uncertainty about how far people should go.

Specific measures include:

"Reducing exposed skin by using masks, glasses, hats, etc. (66.7%)"
"Rethinking skin care and makeup items (37.4%)"
"Switching to skin care that emphasizes moisturizing (36.9%)"

It continues, "It appears that they are consciously taking care of their skin from both the perspectives of "blocking external stimuli" and "restoring the skin's barrier function."

80% of people experience improvement in rough skin by reviewing their cleansing and facial wash products

So, when we asked people who have "reviewed or changed their skincare or makeup items," what were the specific details?

"I chose items that emphasize moisturizing (62.7%)"
"I chose a cleansing/face wash that was strong enough to cleanse and was gentle on the skin (56.6%)."

"I chose products for sensitive skin (43.4%)"

This was followed by a clear emphasis on the aspects of "not causing irritation" and "preserving moisture."

Furthermore, when asked whether their skin problems had improved after reviewing their cleansing and facial cleansing products, approximately 80% answered "much improved (17.0%)" or "somewhat improved (59.6%)."

It has become clear that reviewing your face washing and cleansing routine can be highly effective in addressing skin concerns.

Washing care , which can be easily incorporated into your daily routine, may be the first step in tackling spring skin problems.

Approximately 90% of respondents said, "I think it's easy to overlook the importance of cleansing and washing your face."

How important is it to review your cleansing and facial washing routines to prevent skin problems caused by pollen, yellow sand, and PM2.5?

Approximately 90% of those who take precautions responded that "I think it's easy to overlook reviewing cleansing and face washing," highlighting the fact that this is a blind spot that is often overlooked in everyday skin care.

However, on the other hand, approximately 90% of people also responded that "it is important to review cleansing and facial washing items to protect against pollen, yellow sand, and PM2.5," indicating that although it is often overlooked, many people recognize the necessity of doing so.

Because it is incorporated into our daily routine, we tend to have fewer opportunities to reconsider how we wash things or what items we choose.

That's why it may be said that this is an important point in skin care right now. The essence of skin trouble prevention is actually hidden in the most familiar act of "washing."

The key is gentle cleansing power and other "cleaning care"

Finally, we asked people who are conscious of preventing skin problems caused by pollen, yellow sand, and PM2.5, "What are the ideal cleansing/facial washing items?"

"Gentle on the skin (59.9%)"
"Removes dirt from the skin thoroughly (45.7%)"
"It removes makeup thoroughly (41.0%)"

These responses make it clear that the balance between "not too strong cleaning power" and "proven effectiveness" is important.

In particular, items that focus on "preventive care," such as "preventing rough skin" and "less irritation," were highly popular , and we can see a trend in which cleansing and washing the face are perceived not simply as a process of "removing makeup," but as "the first step in protecting the skin."

On the other hand, "strong cleansing power (24.3%)" ranked low, suggesting concern that strong cleansing power may actually cause skin problems.

These results show that what is needed to combat spring skin problems is cleansing and facial washing products that not only have the power to remove makeup, but also provide gentle protection .
